TSM Heating

This week, we had the opportunity to catch up with Mike O’Kane, one of our skilled Gas Installers, to learn more about his job as part of Team TSM.

Join us as we explore Mike’s role and discover how he spends his time, both on and off the job!

How long have you worked for TSM, and why are you still here?

“I’ve been with TSM since the beginning. I might have even been the first employee! The team and the bosses are amazing—they make sure you’re looked after, and there’s always work available. Really, there’s nothing more you could ask for.”

What’s the best part of your job?

“The best part of my job is leaving the customer satisfied and safe, making sure they have hot water. Also, the Christmas party is always fun! The team is great; it’s like a close family, and everyone gets along well.”

What makes your team run so smoothly?

“The key to keeping the team and my day running smoothly is organisation. Organisation is everything—if things aren’t planned out or in the right order, nothing flows well. Problems will arise, and you’ll find yourself two steps behind.”

What do you do in your spare time?

“I usually go to the gym after work and play Sunday league football. I’m also a huge Millwall fan, so I like to go to their games. And, of course, I spend time with my family.”

If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?

“I’d tell my younger self to stick with it and stay consistent—it will all pay off, and you’ll be rewarded. There’s always someone in a worse situation, so be grateful.”

What is your biggest pet peeve?

“At work, my biggest pet peeve is disorganisation. It’s messy and looks unprofessional. Personally, it’s punctuality—I hate when people are late or don’t communicate properly.”

You find a lottery ticket worth £10 million. What would you do?

“I’d give it all to TSM! Haha, just kidding. I’d pay off my parents’ mortgage and make sure they’re set. I’d also buy houses for my whole family on one street so we could all live together, and then donate to Cancer Research since it’s close to my heart.”

If you were shipwrecked on a deserted island, but all your basic needs (like food and water) were taken care of, what two items would you want to have with you?

“Probably a phone and a football to keep me occupied—and then a boat to get off the island!”
