Last week, several members of our team had the privilege of attending the Building Inclusive Workplaces event, hosted by Bromley Borough Council.

The initiative aims to support employers in creating more inclusive workplaces across various industries, specifically for individuals with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)*. Bringing together directors and leaders from Bromley’s education, health, and care services, alongside senior advisors from the national inclusion development team – it provided a fantastic opportunity to explore workforce development through the lens of inclusivity.

Key takeaways included:

⭐ Practical tips on adapting roles and environments to support employment skills development through work experience, mentoring, and employment.

⭐ Insights into digital support available (Microsoft Showcase College).

⭐ Guidance on making reasonable adjustments for interviews and recruitment.

⭐ Direct input from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) on grants and resources to support workplace adjustments.

⭐ The latest labour market insights.

We also learned about local programmes, funding opportunities, and training resources available for businesses and got to hear from SEND inclusion specialists, DWP representatives, and local economic development experts.

We would like to thank Bromley Council for hosting us at this event, which was an excellent opportunity to connect with employers and organisations committed to diversity and inclusion.
