This week, we’re excited to introduce one of the newest members of our TSM team, Steven Nathan. We sat down with Steven to learn more about the important work he’ll be doing as a Mechanical Manager at TSM, as well as what he enjoys getting up to in his spare time 🎯
Can you share an overview of your professional background and the key steps that led you to your current role?
“I have worked within the mechanical industry for over 23 years. Throughout my career, I have been Gas Safe qualified, working across both domestic and commercial sectors. When the time came to hang up my tools, I transitioned into several managerial roles, including contracts management, gas compliance, mechanical project management, and operations director.”
What drew you to working with TSM?
“After my first visit to TSM to meet with Sam and Tom, I knew TSM was the organisation I wanted to work for. They have a clear vision of where they want to take TSM, and I just wanted to be a part of the journey.”
Can you walk us through what a typical day looks like for you in your current role?
“I don’t think there is such a thing as a typical day in my role. Each day is spent dealing with clients, estimating new projects, and sourcing the correct labour and materials. I focus on meeting client expectations and ensuring the directors that we are taking TSM in the direction they want
What do you find to be the most rewarding aspects of your current role?
“The most rewarding part of my job is successfully delivering projects on time and within budget. There is also a huge satisfaction in helping the team in any way I can. Teamwork makes the dream work!”
How do you like to spend your spare time outside of work?
When I’m not at work, my first love is coaching my son’s football team, which I have done for 9 years. I also love golf, fishing, and rugby, as well as socialising with friends and family.
If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?
“Always go above and beyond, take nothing at work personally, and only ever look down on someone when you’re helping them up. You spend an average of 33% of your life at work, so make sure you do what you enjoy.”
What’s your favourite way to spend your downtime?
“I would say spending time with family and friends.”
What is your biggest pet peeve?
“Liars and selfishness.”
